Aphotic is an interactive deep sea VR experience where the user is immersed within a jellyfish swarm, able to interact with them playfully. We wanted to create an immersive and somewhat therapeutic virtual reality experience that the player can interact with the jellyfish and explore the environment.
This project involved rigging jellyfish models in a way to have them move in a way that seemed natural, both while bobbing in the water and when dragged around the screen. An atmospheric soundtrack that was created in FL Studio was added to deepen the experience and bring another layer of realism to the experience.
The idea of this project was created around a concept piece involving the interactive sealife area of Te Papa Museum in Wellington.
