VIDEO GAME BASED ON THE INFLUENCE OF ADVERTISING

This project was created to highlight the issues surrounding the in uence of advertising and the way it a ects the decisions of people in their everyday lives and the negative e ects it may have.

Throughout the game we wanted the player to gain an understanding of how advertising is used by companies to manipulate their consumers into purchasing their products. By seeing this, the player may make connections to their own lives when buying branded products which are overpriced and contain messages which are exaggerated or persuasive.

During the game you will need to disable the Neural Freedom ad’s to stop them from influencing the public and prevent them from seeking out the upgrades. After this you will make your way to the company’s headquarters, but you will be faced with the challenge of having to blend in with people that have already been upgraded, as they are being controlled by the company.

But don’t get caught or you will find yourself being forced to get the Neural Freedom chip installed into your own headpiece.

 

The year is 2217, technology and AI has evolved and become largely integrated into everyone’s lives. This has led to a series of upgrades to the human body to make them more robotic for the benefit of humans. A multinational robotics company, Lifestyle Dynamics Corp., has been initiating these upgrades for the past 20 years and promoting them through advertising. They originally started the company with the idea of creating robotic body parts to help the physically disabled. However, in recent years Lifestyle Dynamics began to gain substantial control over the ideals of the public that they became power-hungry.

Lifestyle Dynamics has offered upgrades for the whole human body, and now the final upgrade being promoted is an add-on chip to the headpiece called Neural Freedom, which will allow Lifestyle Dynamics to have control of the last remaining human part of their body – the brain. Society is unaware of this consequence and the fact that Lifestyle Dynamics is abusing their power. Instead, they believe the false, positive messages being advertised.

As the child of Lifestyle Dynamics’ lead technician, you must make your way through a city overwhelmed with advertisements and people already being controlled by Lifestyle Dynamics, to make your way to the corporation’s headquarters and shut them down once and for all.
